Adcock, Eddie - Guitar Echoes

Eddie Adcock | Virginia | 1979

Eddie Adcock's LP Guitar Echoes, released on CMH Records.

Eddie Adcock (1938) is an American banjoist and guitarist.

From Wikipedia:

"His professional career as a 5-string banjoist began in 1953 when he joined Smokey Graves & His Blue Star Boys, who had a regular show at a radio station in Crewe, Virginia. Between 1953-57, he founded or played with different bands in Virginia and Washington DC, such as his Virginia Playboys, Smokey Graves and the Blue Star Boys, Bill Harrell, and Mac Wiseman's Country Boys. Bill Monroe offered a job to Adcock in 1958, and he played with the Blue Grass Boys until he could no longer survive on bluegrass' declining pay due to the onslaught of Elvis Presley who cornered all music markets. Adcock continued in music and also returned to working a variety of day jobs including auto mechanic, dump truck driver, and sheet metal mechanic. Then Charlie Waller and John Duffey asked Adcock to join their struggling new band, The Country Gentlemen, whereupon their vocal and instrumental synergy prompted a reinvention and elevation of their sound, soon revitalizing bluegrass music itself. They are the first group to be inducted, in 1996, into the International Bluegrass Music Association's Hall of Fame as a band entity.

Adcock has performed with his wife Martha since 1973 in bands II Generation - the first definitively newgrass group - then as Eddie & Martha Adcock, country rock band Adcock, bluegrass' Talk of the Town, The Masters, the Country Gentlemen Reunion Band, and the Eddie Adcock Band, as well as with country outlaw David Allan Coe. Most recently he tours almost exclusively with wife Martha and calls Lebanon, Tennessee his home. Eddie belongs to a number of business organizations, including IBMA and the Folk Alliance. He has served on the Board of Directors of the IBMA, Tennessee Banjo Institute and others. Eddie and Martha also founded and ran Adcock Audio, a large, state-of-the-art sound company, serving bluegrass-related festivals from the early '70s until 2006, and from that time until the present have also recorded and produced themselves and others both outside and in-house at their own SunFall Studio."

This LP is a mix of bluegrass, rock, and jazz. It features his wife Martha Adcock, Scotty Flowers, Johnny Adcock, and legendary country guitarist Joe Maphis playing the electric fiddle!

American Travelers - By Request

Country | Indiana | Unknown Year

I can't find much information on The American Travelers. Based on the back cover of the LP, they were a family band consisting of Harper Garris, his wife Miriam, and their children Jesse and Jeff. They are credited as the backing band for Indiana country musician Joe Staples on his LP Memories Of You.

Judging by the song selection on the LP, I would estimate that it was released in the late 1970s.

Harper Garris published a book in 2014 called "The Twenty-Seventh Child: A Witness of History" through Archway Publishing, but I can't find a copy of it online to find further details about the band or the members.

Harper Garris passed away in March 2015.

Antcliff, Kenny - I'm Double Parked

Country | Michigan | 1979

Country singer Kenny Antcliff's 1979 LP I'm Doubled Parked, released on Autumn Hill Records.

Kenny Antcliff was a country music singer from Lowell, Michigan. As far as I can tell he only released one LP during his career. He also put out one single for the label Fanfare Records called "Patricia b/w Honky Tonk Fever" in 1983. This LP was recorded at RCA Victor Studios in Nashville, Tennessee and was produced by Jim Voytek. Autumn Hill Records was a private label operated out of Hendersonville, Tennessee in the late 1970s. An issue of the Lowell Ledger newspaper from July 1995 mentions a performance by Kenny Antcliff and the Rhythm Ramblers. I can't find much more information on Kenny Antcliff or his career. From his wife obituary in 2016 I learned that he is also deceased, but I am unsure of the year in which he died.

If anyone has information on Kenny Antcliff please leave a comment and I'll update the video description!

Antoni, Stephen - Simple And Honest

Country/Pp\op | Unknown Year

Stephen Antoni's LP Simple & Honest, released on Pentagram Records.

Stephen Antoni is a former cruise ship performer who performed on the Carnival Cruise Line. This LP seems to be a souvenir item that could be purchased on the cruise ship at his shows. Based on the cruise ships listed on the back cover of the LP and a timeline I found of Carnival cruise ships, I would date this LP as being recorded sometime between 1982 and 1985. As far as I can tell Stephen did not record or release any other music.

These days it looks like Stephen is a real estate agent in Rhode Island and you can find more recent videos on YouTube of him performing in talent competitions.
